About Us

From Okinawa to Vancouver, and Beyond

Southern Wave is a registered nonprofit organization that practices Okinawan music and dance in Vancouver, BC Canada. We are proud to have members who are motivated to share passion for Okinawan performing arts in this multicultural city. Our mission is to create an active platform where everyone can experience Okinawan culture through music and dance. We want to deliver joyful experiences to our audience.

One of our biggest goals is to contribute to cultural diversity. We will actively participate in local multicultural festivals and charities to get to know people from different cultural backgrounds. We want to establish strong connections with other cultural groups from not only Canada but also all over the world. We are passionate about passing down the cultural knowledge of Okinawa to the next generations. We believe that working together can make a difference and help multicultural movement flourish even more.
