About the Event

PART 1: EXPERIENCE BINGATA DYEING

Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring Bingata, a traditional Okinawan stencil dyeing technique using rice-paste resist.

What You’ll Do:

Learn the basics of Bingata, known for its vivid colours and expressive, nature-inspired motifs and freeform patterns.

Apply stencils and rice paste onto fabric, then add colour using brushes once the stencil is removed–Resist Dyeing.

Practice the technique by colouring your own drawstring pouch (kinchaku).
